We have negotiated an agreement whereby all members of the Tenchfishers (as at 12th Feb) will be able to fish Aspen Lake in the Cotswold Water Park without having to pay the annual fee of £20.00.
This means that all members will only need to purchase rod tickets at the following rates:
To obtain these rates and without having to pay the £20.00 annual fee you will have to show some form of identity with a current photograph along with your green Tenchfishers membership card.
As previously advertised, the green Tenchfishers membership cards are available from Peter Crane, Group Secretary. (Note: A stamped addressed envelope must be included.)
The opportunity to fish Aspen Lake at the above rates is only available through to 30th Nov 2010. Members who joined the Tenchfishers after the 12th Feb 2010 will unfortunately have to pay the £20 joining fee if they wish to fish this venue.
If anyone wishes to fish this venue on an unrestricted day fishing only basis (i.e. not on a rod ticket basis) then they will have to purchase an annual ticket costing £200.
Members are reminded that it is their responsibility to ensure that they know and abide by the rules of the fishery. No under 14’s are allowed and under 16’s must be family members of the Tenchfishers and must be accompanied by a senior member. No spectators are allowed except for spouse or partners.
Aspen Lake itself is approximately 23 acres in size and nearly 10 years old. Fish in the lake include Tench, Carp, Perch, Rudd, Crucians, Bream, Roach and Chub. The rate of growth of the tench population, some of which came from Horseshoe Lake in 2005 has been exceptional over the past few years, with fish of varying sizes to over 8lbs now being caught. With the amount of natural food in the lake it is believed that the first double figure fish cannot be too far away.
Although a gravel pit and not in the 'Mr Crabtree' style, the fishery is very private with an excellent choice of swims. Unhooking mats must be used at all times and it is recommended that either a 36inch carp or large pan style landing net is used. Barbless hooks must be used at all times.
The entrance to the fishery can be found on the right, approximately 1 mile along Fridays Ham Lane, off the Spine Road (East) in the Cotswold Water Park. The closest Sat Nav postcode is SN6 6QW, which gets you to within 150 yards of the fishery entrance. The entrance gate to the fishery is locked at night and is opened again at approximately 7.00 in the morning.
If you require any further details please contact the fishery owner, Bob Lewis on 01285 869725.
